A family-owned metal fabrication and holding company with operations throughout the United States and Europe serves as a global supplier and distributor of specialized metal products. To expand its Missouri footprint, the company pursued the acquisition of an existing manufacturing business, supporting workforce growth, capital investment, and its continued presence in key industrial markets.

The company engaged McGuire Sponsel’s Location Advisory Services team to identify and secure available Missouri incentives tied to the acquisition, planned job creation, and capital investment associated with the project.

Process

Our team conducted extensive due diligence to evaluate employment projections, wage requirements, and capital investment commitments associated with the acquisition and expansion project. The engagement included reviewing the company’s plans to create 300 new full-time jobs and invest $1.5 million in capital improvements, while identifying incentive opportunities aligned with those commitments.

We coordinated the submission of required documentation, including employment baseline data, notices of intent, eligibility verification materials, and supporting program documentation required by the Missouri Works program. Throughout the project, our team served as a liaison between the client and the Missouri Department of Economic Development, facilitating communication and supporting the incentive approval process.

Following approval, our team continued to advocate on the client’s behalf by working closely with the Missouri Department of Revenue to resolve significant processing delays related to Missouri Works withholding tax refunds, ultimately helping recover more than $500,000 in outstanding refunds.

Results

The incentive package was tied to the company’s commitments to create 300 new full-time jobs, invest $1.5 million in capital improvements, and generate additional payroll and state withholding tax revenue in Missouri.
