Client Profile

One of North America’s leading manufacturers of couscous, short-cut pasta, quinoa, rice, and Mediterranean blends planned to relocate and expand its Pennsylvania manufacturing operations to support continued business growth.

The family-owned company intended to invest approximately $8 million in a larger manufacturing facility while creating new jobs and retaining its existing workforce. Introduced by the client’s CPA firm, the client partnered with McGuire Sponsel’s Location Advisory team to identify and secure available state incentives that would improve project economics.

Process

The client planned to create 36 new jobs while retaining 39 existing positions as part of its expansion and relocation project.

Because construction and investment timelines were moving quickly, preserving incentive eligibility required immediate action. McGuire Sponsel evaluated available Pennsylvania incentive programs, coordinated with state economic development officials, and expedited preparation of the required applications before major capital expenditures occurred.

By acting early in the project lifecycle, the team successfully positioned the client to receive discretionary state incentives that supported the overall investment.

Results

McGuire Sponsel successfully helped the client secure a Pennsylvania incentive package totaling $140,000, including a $100,000 Pennsylvania First Grant and a $40,000 WEDnetPA Workforce Training Grant.

The incentives supported an approximately $8 million manufacturing expansion and relocation project while helping the company create new jobs, retain existing employees, and continue investing in advanced manufacturing operations within Pennsylvania.
