Approach & Results

Client Profile

The client is a best-in-class fire protection company providing full-service design, fabrication, and installation of fire sprinklers, alarms, and extinguishers. Headquartered in Indiana, the company is rapidly expanding operations into Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Ohio. Referred by their CPA, the client engaged McGuire Sponsel to procure and negotiate incentives across multiple states.

Process

McGuire Sponsel’s Location Advisory team took a creative and tailored approach to this multi-state expansion project. The team collaborated with state and local officials in all three states to communicate the value of the company’s investment and workforce impact.

  • In Kentucky, the company planned to add 30,000 square feet and 15 new jobs
  • In Wisconsin, it aimed to redevelop a five-acre site and consolidate two locations
  • In Ohio, it sought to build a new facility while retaining and adding jobs.

Study Results

Despite the complexity of classifying the client’s industry, McGuire Sponsel successfully secured meaningful incentives in two of the three states. In Kentucky, the project was awarded $300,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment (KBI) program and $100,000 through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act (KEIA). These incentives directly supported capital investment and job creation goals.

In Ohio, although the state was unable to offer support due to the industry’s classification, the local community recognized the project’s value and awarded a six-year, 65% real property tax abatement valued at approximately $123,000. While Wisconsin incentives were not procured, the overall project strengthened the client’s operational footprint and affirmed the value of McGuire Sponsel’s strategic incentive navigation.
