Client Profile

This company has become one of the largest plastic recycling businesses in North America. They take pride in diverting plastic materials from landfills and reusing them as an alternative to virgin resins. Wanting to purchase new recycling equipment for their Indiana location, the client approached McGuire Sponsel with their recycling initiative plans.

Process

They asked McGuire Sponsel to secure incentives to help accomplish their goals of purchasing equipment to process scrap materials from businesses to create plastic pellets for reuse in consumer products. Our Location Advisory team negotiated a Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) grant with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) by visiting the company’s site and presenting their findings to the IDEM council. The IDEM ultimately awarded the grant to the company. The process of negotiating and procuring the grant took about six months, resulting in a $300,000 RMDP grant. This investment will allow the processing of 10,000 additional tons of recyclable plastic.
