When Should you Pursue Credits & Incentives?
Credits and incentives are highly time sensitive. Because credits and incentives are designed to encourage specific activities, they generally must be secured before your client publicly commits to a project. If your clients are considering any of these business decisions, let’s talk:
- Adding Jobs
- Purchasing Equipment
- Buying, Leasing, or Building a Facility
- Acquiring Another Business
- Relocating Operations
- El Toro | Louisville
- Packaging Technology Group | Louisville
El Toro is a Louisville-based firm that offers a range of online marketing services, including advanced analytics, mobile location marketing and IP targeting. Their fast paced business growth, along with their transition into a new space and rapid scaling of new hires, created a specific need for an outside consultant to help the company realize value from an existing incentive deal. McGuire Sponsel worked with El Toro to complete the necessary compliance work to activate the incentive package and pull up to $750,000/year back into the company In addition to the compliance work, McGuire Sponsel advised El Toro on the appropriate tax mechanism – payroll wage withholding – to realize the value of the incentive package.
Packaging Technology Group, Inc., (PTG) headquartered in Fall River Massachusetts, designs, engineers, and manufactures thermal shipping and packaging solutions for clients in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences sector. PTG conducted a national search to identify strategic sites for expansion. After evaluating several potential sites, PTG determined Louisville, Kentucky to be the preferred location. The new facility will allow PTG to add capacity and expand its product portfolio, including new sustainable offerings, in the thermal packaging space. PTG engaged McGuire Sponsel to procure state and local tax incentives. McGuire Sponsel handled negotiations with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the city of Louisville to secure 40 new jobs for Kentucky residents. McGuire Sponsel leveraged PTG’s commitment to the community and national presence to secure an incentive package with full state and local support; providing $20,000/job value back to the company.
