Sanctuary Systems Overview
Founded in 2016, Sanctuary Systems produces high quality fibers and non-woven polymer to enhance the performance of apparel fabrics. The company develops prototypes and initial productions for fiber and nonwoven based products. Sanctuary works to deliver higher performing fiber in products such as performance apparel, personal protective wear, artificial leather, and sanitary wipes.
In response to COVID-19 pandemic shortages, Sanctuary Systems used its non-woven fabric technologies to pivot towards increased production of personal protective equipment (PPE). This new production catalyzed the company’s plan to invest and rapidly add new positions. Sanctuary Systems hired McGuire Sponsel to negotiate and procure economic incentives on their behalf in support of the company’s growth. McGuire Sponsel negotiated and worked with the North Carolina Department of Commerce to procure tax incentives to assist with the company’s growing employment needs. The company, with the guidance and collaboration of McGuire Sponsel’s Credits and Incentives team, requested and received a Rural Building Reuse Grant and North Carolina Community College System’s Customized Training Grant from the state of North Carolina. Sanctuary Systems also received a Wayne County Economic Development Grant from the local community for its planned investment and job growth. The company plans to invest $5 million and grow by over 100 employees over the next 2 years.
