As a Director in McGuire Sponsel’s Property Tax Services practice, Matthew Barnhill leads strategic initiatives that drive growth, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery across a national client base. With a focus on commercial real estate, including office, retail, industrial, multi-family, and manufacturing sectors, as well as the retail, industrial, and energy sectors—particularly in Texas and surrounding markets —he specializes in real property tax, business personal property, and mineral interests. Matthew’s expertise in strategic appeals, compliance oversight, and long-term planning supports clients with multi-site portfolios and complex holdings.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business and is actively involved in the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, Texas Taxpayers & Research Association, and the Arizona Department of Insurance & Financial Institutions. Matthew also holds his Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Property Tax Consultant License.

Based in Dallas, Matthew enjoys golfing, traveling with his wife, and cheering on the Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys.
